Overview
Kolo is one of the better self-custodial spending cards. It uses a non-custodial MPC wallet, so funds stay under your control until you spend, and it charges no monthly or issuance fees. Cashback is 2% in BTC for the first 30 days and 1% after, with per-transaction and monthly caps. The big limitation right now is that it is virtual-only — physical cards are not shipped — plus a 1% card-spend conversion fee and Visa FX pass-throughs on non-USD spend.

India availability
Kolo advertises global availability outside sanctioned regions, and non-custodial spending appeals to Indian users who do not want to leave funds on an exchange. It is virtual-only and funded with crypto, so there is no INR top-up. Confirm India eligibility and any Visa FX costs during signup.
Best for Indian users
Indian crypto holders who value self-custody and want a virtual Visa with BTC cashback.
- Kolo advertises global availability outside sanctioned regions, which includes India — confirm during signup as lists change.
- There is no INR top-up; fund the card with crypto (BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT, SOL).
- Kolo is virtual-only right now, so there is no physical card to ship to India.
- Tax note: spending crypto can be a taxable disposal of a Virtual Digital Asset in India (30% plus surcharge and cess, with 1% TDS in some cases). Informational only — consult a chartered accountant.
